About Juanita Miscio
About Me
Hello! My name is Juanita. I am 30 years old and a single mom of a beautiful 9-year-old boy. My passion for photography started at an early age, watching adults use video recorders and fill up photo albums from disposable cameras. I started my photography journey in 2019 when a dear friend helped me invest in starter equipment to live out my dream of being a photographer. Here we are five years later, and I can officially call myself a professional.
At an incredibly young age, my family always took photos with a disposable camera or a big video recorder. Once I was old enough, my father bought me my
first camera. I would take photos of everything and anything throughout family events or at school.
As I got older, I was given family photo albums from past years before birth. Hearing stories of the people I never met or the events I missed made me fall in love with photos. I will always value photos. To get the opportunity to capture these special moments for other people is the very reason I got into photography.
Taking out my camera brings me so much happiness. Doesn’t matter what is going on in my life, taking my camera out and taking photos and playing around with images is the best therapy. The excitement I get when I capture a beautiful photo is equal to that of a kid on Christmas morning. As much as my clients are excited about their images, I’m excited along with you. A client once told me as I was squealing in happiness of an image, I took of them “You are passionate about this? You really enjoy taking photos.” Yes, that is exactly it. This is more of a paid hobby to me. Something I will never stop doing.
I just recently started to call this an art. I grew up believing that it is hard to live off art. So, I never did photography full-time. I ran a cleaning business for 2 years as it was more
stable for income, and a needed service in my area. I closed that business as it was never a passion. It was something I was good at, but it was not something I could honestly say brought me joy. With the experience I gained from running my cleaning business, I can truly invest myself in my photography as a business.
I moved in Northern Ontario and currently manage a clothing Store. I fit in an much as possible with my photoshoots when I can ! For 2025 I am hoping to have more clients.
Why book me as your photographer?
You should hire me as a photographer because I'm a mom. I'm a mom who once was a struggling single mom who just wanted decent pictures of my son and myself. I have been the customer wanting affordable but professional images. I will always work with clients to be budget-friendly and affordable to get photos of their families, as I will always remember myself before I picked up a professional camera.
If you want a photographer who is true to colour and doesn’t wash away the colour you picked for a shoot, I am that photographer. When it comes to colour, I want all colour to be vibrant but not overwhelming. I do step outside of the box with my work when it comes to “Spooky Shoots” to make the image more eerie or when it comes to sunsets, I like to use as much of the golden sun in my images as possible. There is a beauty behind warm golden shots made directly from the sun.
I am a huge mental health advocate and I believe photos help us heal. I don't want anyone stressing over not having images taken. I am a supportive photographer who would never put you down, will always have a safe space for vulnerablity and knows exactly what you are looking for because I know what I would be looking for. A photographer that will take flattering shots and delivery images in your best interest. A photographer with basic photoshop skills to remove scabs, acne, tooth discolouration or fly away hairs. A photographer that gets that children only have a short period of time where they want to take photos and other children that just don’t feel sure with what is going on, so I let them assist me in taking pictures to help calm their nervousness.
What kind of photography have I done?
I have done different kinds of photography over the years, aside from different events like Birthday Parties, Anniversaries, and Weddings. Offering "Fall Minis" and "Christmas Minis" I have gotten the opportunity to do some unique photography.
I have done a "Beer Poster" photoshoots which was something that was trending on the internet. I have also done "Spooky Shoots" where clients get to dress up as their favorite Halloween costumes and have some spooky fun.
